Did you know that fructose converts directly to fat? Our bodies do not convert fructose immediately as energy but stores it as fat.
More and more research is being conducted on the direct effects of fructose on the human body. Recent research has found that fructose does the following:

• Inhibits our immune system, making it harder to fight off infections and viruses
• Interferes with mineral absorption, causes deficiencies and upsets the mineral balance in our bodies
• Apparently affects fertility
• Accelerates the aging process ?
• Connections to cancers have been reported, such as ovarian, prostate, breast, stomach etc
• A link to dementia has been identified
• Can cause malabsorption and indigestion
• May cause loss of concentration, hyperactivity and anxiety

WHERE’S THE FRUCTOSE?

According to Gillespie (2013)
• Table sugar has 50% fructose and 50% glucose
• Honey has 40% fructose
• Banana has approximately 55% sugar, one half which is fructose
• Agave 70-90% fructose

MAYBE TRY SOME ALTERNATIVES?

• Coconut sugar has a minimal effect on blood sugar levels, is emerging as a favourite among vegans and raw foodies. It isn’t technically raw though, being the boiled down sap harvested from unopened coconut blossoms

• Molasses has a rich flavour, is a super healthy addition to your diet. It’s rich in vitamins and minerals, but be sure to select unsulfured, organic sugarcane molasses
